The Department of Central Services is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Power Engineer to work with Asset Management - Central Capital at Brandon location. Valid 5th Class Driver's Licence
Valid 4th Class Power Engineer Certification recognized by the Office of the Fire Commissioner - Please present ticket # when applying
Must have satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including working at heights, in confined spaces, able to crouch, kneeling, medium or heavy lifting, climbing stairs or ladders, walking sitting and wearing Personal Protective Equipment
Must be able to work alone and follow the Work Alone Policy, shift work, on weekends and holidays
Experience working with Building Automation Systems, including preventive maintenance.
Experience with HVAC and DDC operations, including life safety systems.
Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies and legislation.
Analytical and decision-making skills.
Interpersonal communication skills.
Experience operating a High Pressure Steam Plant
Experience with computers and computerized facility maintenance management systems.
The incumbent in this position will receive general instruction and direction from the Shift Operating Engineer to assist in the overall safe and efficient operation of a 2nd Class Steam Heating Plant and ancillaries for buildings. The incumbent is also responsible to respond to fire alarms, preventative maintenance assignments, client requests and emergencies.
