SUMMARY

As a Component/Parts and Subcontract Management Engineer for Firefly, you will be responsible for defining the quality and performance level for electronic parts for all flight Avionics systems. This will include developing a parts plan to include lot acceptance testing, destructive physical analysis, particle impact noise detection (PIND) test requirements and other test and inspections. In this position, you will also work with the design engineer to identify substitute parts, parts cost and delivery lead times and work with suppliers to implement our parts reliability program. As a subcontract manager, you will assist supplier partners in developing schedules, working through issues, and identifying alternate solutions. Your efforts will directly affect the success of the launch vehicle and its mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with subsystem designers to determine minimum requirements for launch vehicle Electrical, Electronics and Electromechanical (EEE) components
Creates, releases, and controls subassembly Bills of Materials
Maintains an Approved Vendor List (AVL) and assigns new part numbers
Manages parts obsolescence, product change notices, and product alerts
Writes and maintains applicable source control drawings
Coordinates root cause and failure analysis activities on components as required
Actively works with supply chain and designers to lower costs, improve lead times, and resolve technical issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).
Familiarity with Military and/or NASA parts specifications for screening and qualification, including MIL-PRF-883, MIL-STD-202, MIL-PRF-38534 and EEE-INST-002.
Experience in selection, screening, and qualification of EEE components, including:
RF components and MMICs
Digital processors
Power supplies and analog components
Passives (resistors, capacitors, magnetics, filters, power dividers)
Ability to work across several functional areas effectively with minimum guidance.
2+ years of relevant component engineering experience.
Strong ability to effectively communicate and present design and analysis to multiple audiences.

Desired:
5+ years of experience in working with EEE parts
Experience managing subcontractors and parts suppliers/vendors
Working knowledge of automotive specifications.
Experience with PCB and electronic manufacturing processes and quality conformance.
Experience in selecting parts for space environments including radiation and reliability considerations.
