Role Description & Primary Duties
The test team at magniX is responsible for the development of our testing facilities and planning and executing all testing activities on our electric propulsions units (EPUs) and their auxiliary systems. As a test engineer you will be responsible for the development and execution of testing activities to support the EPU engineering validation, the certification testing to FAA Part 33 standards, the production acceptance tests and any test aimed at improving the performance of the EPUs once in the field.
Participate in the commissioning and daily operation of dynamometer and propeller test cells, for development, certification and entry-into-service
Develop and maintain test instructions, test plans, test reports, test data sets and related documentation within a quality management framework
Develop novel approaches to test cell and EPU control, measurement and data acquisition and reduction using LabVIEW, HBM Perception and Python
Support / drive the design, construction and execution of tests and experiments on electro-mechanical system
Design and build / procure necessary test equipment and systems to support testing activities
Support test equipment upgrades from purchase through installation, operation and maintenance to ensure facility availability
Support integration of the EPUs into flying test beds and support flight test activities
Foster a safety culture within the team
Other day to day tasks includes:
Working rotating shifts when required to meet the team’s goals
Work offsite at various locations including airfields and other facilities
Lifting, carrying, and moving loads of up to 30 kg
Maintain computers, data acquisition systems and special instrumentation in the test cells
Plan and organize maintenance of systems and equipment at our facility
Essential Experience and Technical Skills
Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical) or three years of previous similar experience
5+ years of professional experience in the aerospace industry
High level of proficiency with LabVIEW as well as proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++ etc
Knowledge of testing, instrumentation principles and best practices
Exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, a professional positive can-do attitude and a sense of urgency in your work
Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and achieve results.
Experience working with electrical systems including HVDC sources, batteries and supporting equipment
Hands-on experience and familiarity with workshop tools such as a drill press, soldering, common hand tools, etc.

Experience with FAA Part 33 certification of aircraft power plants and systems
Practical experience with aircraft either maintenance, or pilot license
