TRC is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our growing Environmental, Construction, and Remediation (ECR) practice in New York, New York.
Based in TRC's midtown Manhattan office and Client office in lower Manhattan periodically, the position requires a qualified environmental engineer/consultant with proficiency in: direct Client contact, task management, coordination of project teams as part of a project team, scoping, and budgeting. The ideal candidate must have 5+ years of experience conducting environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation projects ideally in the New York City metropolitan area.
Project work may include petroleum investigation and remediation, aspects of O&M programs, regulatory compliance related to stormwater, and familiarity with PFAS. Additionally, familiarity with NYSDEC Spills Program, investigation and remedial work, preparation of reports, and obtaining approvals for spill closure. Familiarity with working at aviation/transportation facilities is a plus.
Management and reporting related to a variety of projects to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
Efficiently coordinate and communicate with third-party contractors and key parties.
Manage and coordinate investigations, compliance, and remediation projects.
Provide summaries and updates to the Client and participate in regular meetings/conference calls with Clients and subcontractors.
Coordinate and review technical reports, permit compliance, O&M reports, work plans, design documents, and construction documents in support of environmental compliance and remediation.
Strong interpersonal skills/Client focused approach required.
Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
5 years' prior work experience in environmental consulting is required, preferably in the State of New York.
Ability to work independently or on a project team. Capability to effectively manage field and office tasks to completion without supervision, including tasks involving coordination with subcontractors.
Ability to work at Client office in lower Manhattan periodically. Ability to travel to regional Sites to perform inspections and attend meetings.
Familiarity with federal and New York State environmental regulations.
Understanding and awareness of health and safety practices.
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Knowledge of AutoCAD, ESRI, and/or HydroCAD a plus.
