We are seeking a talented Life Safety Engineer for our New York, NY office. This is an mid-level position for an eager engineer to influence production of engineering design for a national client base in an nationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare technical reports and fire alarm drawings
Conduct field surveys of existing buildings
Work with Special Inspections and Code Consulting teams to provide fully integrated fire and life safety solutions in response to client project needs
Manage multiple project deadlines with varying priorities
Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors
Enhance the firm’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests
Demonstrate core values and serves as a role model/mentor to all firm members
Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations and obtaining certifications in area of expertise and participating in the firm’s Technical Committee as requested
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, EIT and/or PE preferred
Minimum of 5-8 years experience
Experience to include: Facilities surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, construction activity support, owner's engineer for central plant projects.
Expert knowledge of building codes and standards
Knowledge of Engineering drafting standards
Knowledge of Fire Alarm Engineering standards and other trades
Demonstrable understanding of construction process and interpretation of construction drawings.
Knowledge of AutoCad, REVIT and Microsoft Office suite
Good communication skills
