The product designer position requires designing and developing innovative plastic products from concept through production working with Development team and overseas manufactures. The ideal designer needs to work well with others, communicate and understand design skills and execute design intent, plastic product design experience, passion for design/art and fundamentals of PTC Creo CAD program. Higher knowledge of program is a plus.
Job Profile: * Responsible for the design of 3D solid CAD models * Develops concepts, design drawings, prototypes, material specifications and testing methods * Controls product family designs and achieves resolution of design issues * Works with Product Managers to develop and create design concepts, 3D models, prototypes, drawings, renders and provide clear and precise information for the manufacturing/production of those designs to market. * Supports manufacturing during product production * Ensures product meets the Industry requirements and Design intent goals * Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience: Education and/or Experience: * Associate Degree, Bachelors degree in School of Art & Design, Computer Drafting and CAD Design, * 5+ years experience in consumer product design with plastic part design required
Other Skills and Abilities: * Provide viable concept ideas during ideation sessions * Excellence in 3D CAD design with strong preference towards CREO Parametric Technologies software * Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques * Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment * Experience in high volume manufacturing with plastics, molding methods, production practices / processes etc. * Superior communication skills, strong use of internal communication tools * Experience with processes and facets of Product Design including materials, finishes, shapes, etc. * Experience in Human Factors and Quality is a plus * Advanced knowledge/experience in a lean manufacturing environment. * Requires self-directedness, able and willing to prioritize and take initiative. (Strong work ethics) * Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. * This position requires working well with others, interaction and proactive involvement with other departments
