RINA Consulting is currently seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Specialist with climate change and energy efficiency projects background to work with our Latin America and Caribbean Environment and Social Business Unit The candidate will be part of the team assigned to assessing, reviewing and monitoring the environmental, health, safety and/or social aspects of projects promoted by International Financial Institutions. This position will also support RINA’s international team and will be based at the RINA offices in Washington, D.C.
You will collaborate with RINA’s interdisciplinary team of consultants and engineers delivering EHSS services primarily in the Americas. As an experienced climate change consultant, you will deliver environmental, health, safety and social consultancy services to our clients in the form of compliance and regulations reviews, social risk management evaluations, due diligence services and sustainability assessments. Additionally, you will develop client relationships and endeavor to provide environmentally and socially sound and sustainable development advisory services.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
MS or MA degree in Environmental Engineering or Sciences, Sustainable Development, International Development, environmental Policy or similar
5+ years of professional experience in climate adaptation, energy efficiency and climate change programs with international donors and governments and/or
Knowledge of environmental, health and safety issues and Good International Industry Practice of the Energy / Infrastructure sectors.
Experience in environmental and social impact assessments for moderately complex projects, and willingness to support a team in more intricate projects.
Established portfolio of success with policy, planning, and/or analysis projects in the climate, energy, or environmental fields.
Working experience and knowledge of IFC/IDB/EBRD/Equator Principles or other Lenders environmental, social, health and safety standards and best practices of the industry and its application in development projects funded by multilateral agencies;
Demonstrated experience with preparing and delivering proposals, plans, climate action plans and/or other environmental or sustainability plans.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English and Spanish is mandatory; working knowledge of Portuguese is an asset.
Excellent speaking and writing skills in English.
Availability to travel worldwide on short assignments (one to two weeks per month).
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
