Title: Verification and Validation Engineer
Duration: Long Term Contract
The successful applicant for this position will join our on-site team of controls systems engineers and will take a prominent role in the verification and validation of engine control software for small and medium size engines for the industrial and heavy machinery applications.
The software is developed using modern model based development techniques.
Working directly with the customer engineers to understand and document key test requirements.
Development of sub-system and system level testing strategies to ensure good test coverage and minimise “escapes” from the software delivery team.
Work with sub-system experts to understand sub-system requirements and structure in order to specify and implement rigorous test procedures.
Refinement of the dSPACE HiL test system and the automation of system level verification test plans using Automation Desk.
Test result analysis, issue reporting and investigation
Support for test planning
Support software validation and troubleshooting on engine – getting ‘hands on’ with the end product.
A strong technical degree in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering - consideration will be given to other qualifications or significant relevant experience in lieu of this.
Prior experience of dSPACE, including the use of Automation Desk to automate test plan execution.
Good understanding of diesel engine technology, including common rail fuel systems.
Experience of designing and executing verification strategies and test plans for complex automotive systems
Good grasp of test result analysis, issue reporting and problem solving techniques.
Good understanding of diesel engine technology, including common rail fuel systems
Prior experience in engine control system development and\or validation would be beneficial (preferably in the off-highway industry)
Experience of electronic system development tools such as CANape, CANalyser and a working knowledge of J1939 datalink standards
Experience of running / troubleshooting engine systems, particularly electronics related
Strong interest in engine control system development, particularly for off-highway, marine and military applications
