Summary
Product modifications is one of the value-added services Landscape Forms offers its customers. This position is responsible for engineering modifications to LFI's portfolio of lighting products. This includes working with our suppliers and partners on modifications to their luminaires and poles. This position works closely with the Business Development Team, Lighting Sales Specialists, Lighting Engineering Team, Supply Chain, vendors and external clients to conceive product solutions, create drawings, quotes, make accurate bills of material and routings, and execute orders requiring modified lighting product. This individual must be able to work on their own, or on a team, to resolve design modifications, vendor issues, manufacturing or technical problems.
Principal Responsibilities, (Other duties may be assigned)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Support customer requests to modify products from within the suite of Landscape Forms offering;
Support customer requested modifications to lighting poles; requires the collection of pertinent information needed by pole vendors. Provide in return complete information including 'base reactions', quote, and additional support required. Specification to be complete at time of order.
Collaborate with lighting partners on modifications to their luminaires.
Works with Pole manufacturers and/or structural engineering firms to provide 'stamped' structural calculations on pole footings on as-needed basis. This entails gathering pertinent information needed for vendors to perform calculations.
Provide clear and complete pricing to Customer Service team to develop into a customer quotation. Follow established margin guidelines in calculating selling prices.
Support non-cataloged partner lighting products & pole manufacturers products as requested, including pricing and UL requirements;
Maintain records of modifications and provide periodic analysis on trends to support life cycle plan.
Engineer structural and mechanical aspects when modifying products, including research and analysis, as necessary.
Process customer orders by creating and maintaining accurate BOM/routings/CAD drawings.
Create customer drawings for modified lighting products with necessary information required for project submittals.
Manage lead time and expectations with Lighting Support, Customer Service, and BDR's on status of special requests and orders in process.
Assists with lighting related ECO's, as needed.
Procurement related activities.
Create submittal prints for vendor quoting purposes.
Work with Supply Chain to validate best vendor for proposed components.
Facilitate quote request to vendors for modified components.
Work with Supply Chain concerning purchase order processes
Support Manufacturing Engineering and production on the manufacturing floor, as required.
Criteria for Success

Education, Experience and Skills
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 2 years related experience, or 5 years' experience in an engineered/manufactured product environment. Must be able to analyze and understand data to solve problems with many variables. Must be able to apply engineering calculations as part of an electrical, structural and performance evaluation. Must have proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCad, Microsoft office, blueprint reading, and project management. Experience in metal fabrication, electrical/electronics, optics, cellular manufacturing, and the properties of material used (such as steel, aluminum, and plastics) preferred.
This person must possess a high level of written and verbal communication with a variety of audiences. Must have the ability to give clear instruction regarding technical data to both technical and non-technical disciplines. For example, sales representatives, architects, engineers, vendors, manufacturing team members.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Mostly office but may be required to work in noisy or hot environment and around moving machinery. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for up to 5 hours.
