Research Engineer to develop and implement advanced computational technologies and non-linear topology optimization for vehicle design and attribute analysis. Candidate will possess a broad technical knowledge of state of the art computational technologies such as FEA, XFEM, IGA, etc., advanced optimization techniques and linear and non-linear topology optimization. Candidate is expected to lead projects and deliver results in a timely manner.
Work with internal and external partners to develop and implement non-linear topology optimization tools and technologies for designing structures for additive manufacturing (AM)
Develop tools, methods and techniques for AM structures for attribute analysis using state of the art computational technologies
Develop structural design concepts and perform attribute analysis of AM structures
Testing and characterization of AM materials for attribute analysis
Component testing for validation of tools and AM CAE methods
Work with software suppliers to develop and implement advanced computational technologies such as IGA, XFEM, etc
Perform attribute analysis such as crash as required
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
2+ years of experience with research and analysis in advanced computational technologies (i.e. IGA, XFEM, etc.), optimization or topology optimization for optimal structure design, etc. (PhD studies allowed)
PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
Experience with additive manufacturing and CAE analysis
Experience in state of the art computational technologies and software
Experience in linear and non-linear topology optimization
Experience in shape and size optimization
Experience in structural mechanics, structural dynamics, constitutive modeling etc.
Technical and analytical skills in crash safety and advanced materials
Experience in FEA model development for crash and hands on experience in using commercial crash codes
Experience in static and dynamic testing
Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment. Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and readily embraces change
Strong written and verbal communication skills
