The Shop Supervisor & CNC Programmer/Machinist is a working supervisory position that is responsible for assigning work to and monitoring shop employees in a job shop machining environment that uses manual and CNC mills and lathes. This role is 60% machinist work and 40% supervisor/management work.
CNC Programmer/Machinist Responsibilities Include:
? Set-up, program (including 5 axis work), and operate one or more CNC pieces of equipment including vertical and horizontal machining centers and lathes
? Design tooling/fixtures, select tools, write programs, make prototype pieces, and make one of kind pieces from a sample
? Must have a minimum of 5 years each using CAM & Solidworks software
? Analyze drawings, solid models, and sketches to determine dimensions and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds and feed rates according to shop processes, customer specifications, and machine capabilities
? Machine and assemble prototype devices, test equipment, and tooling according to verbal and/or written specifications

CNC Programmer/Machinist Requirements include:
You will be responsible for machining parts for custom one-of-a-kind machines, prototypes, and some low quantity part runs. Set-up, program (including 5 axis work), and operate one or more CNC pieces of equipment including vertical and horizontal machining centers, etc. Design tooling/fixtures, select tools, write programs, make prototype pieces, and make one of kind pieces from a sample. Hold close tolerances. Estimate and quote new production and prototype work. Must have a minimum of 5 years CAD/CAM experience and design skills using Solidworks. Must be able to read prints and have excellent math skills including trigonometry. Analyze drawings, solid models, and sketches to determine dimensions and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds and feed rates according to shop processes, customer specifications, and machine capabilities. Machine and assemble prototype devices, test equipment, and tooling according to verbal and/or written specifications. Partner with our customer’s engineers, technicians, and outside welders to develop, repair, or modify parts, fixtures and equipment.
Supervisor Requirements include:
Critical aspects of this role will be your ability to lead and use your team's experience, knowledge, skills, and creativity to tackle challenging and interesting jobs. All jobs must be monitored to ensure day to day objectives are met with an eye on weekly and monthly goals. Demonstrate clear communication and holding employees accountable while you supervise shop personnel to maximize productivity, efficiency and safety. Analyze work problems and recommend solutions and/or disciplinary action. Maintain and recommend required tooling and shop supplies. Oversee equipment service and repairs. You will interface directly with our customers, quote work, balance workload and resources to manage budget and timelines. Shop oversight including safe equipment maintenance, quality control, and workload balance. Personnel management including annual reviews, training, apprenticeship program management, mentorship, and technical advancement plans.
High School Diploma (GED) minimum. Completed machinist apprenticeship or 2-year Technical College machining degree a plus. Minimum Work Experience of 10+ years as a CNC Programmer/Machinist & 5+ years as a Supervisor. Excellent attendance record is a condition of hire and maintaining your job.
