Under the direction of the System Vice President of Surgical Services and the System Medical Director of Surgical Services, the Director of HFHS Ambulatory Surgical Services Management is responsible for planning, monitoring and directing the implementation of key metrics and strategies to support the objectives of the Surgical Services leadership at the various Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). Key responsibilities include supervising the daily activities of ASC-based Surgical Services core team members in each business unit's department of surgical services Business Manager/Process Improvement specialists. This includes Operating Rooms at Outpatient Surgical Centers (ASCs), Family waiting areas, Pre-Operative Holding Units, Post Anesthesia Care Units, the Pre-anesthesia testing units (PAT), Surgical Scheduling. Provides oversight and review of Surgical Supply Management and utilization, capacity utilization, and Surgical Quality and Safety at the ASCs. Key duties also include overseeing daily activities of both system and local performance management and analytics staff specifically in the areas of process improvement (PI), project management and action planning to ensure alignment of all ASC Surgical Services activities to System goals, strategy and objectives. The Director will collaborate with the System Surgical Services Leaders to ensure that data analytics are in alignment with surgical services goals. The Director will collaborate with the Directors of Surgical Services and relevant system level leaders to stay apprised of innovations, integration opportunities and process improvements across Surgical Services.
Bachelor's Degree in Performance Engineering, Management, Business or Healthcare Services Administration or Nursing required.
Master's Degree (MA, MS, MBA) in Business, Engineering, Management, Healthcare Services Administration, Nursing or another clinical field preferred.
Seven (7) years of progressive experience in both clinical and business (process engineer/improvement, planning, clinical quality/safety, operations or management consulting experience).
Five (5) years of leadership experience. Experience with Professional Practice development, fiscal planning, and resource allocation.
Experience building effective multidisciplinary teams and developing positive work relationships with a diverse group of professionals.
Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Henry Ford Hospital.
Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
