The purpose of this classification is to perform entry and intermediate engineering work in the planning, design, plan review, construction, and maintenance of City infrastructure and utilities. Work is performed under the direct supervision and review of a Professional Engineer.
Essential Duties Summary Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; supplemented by registration as an Engineer-in-Training by the Louisiana Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds) and occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
