Data Solutions Engineer – Data & Analytics Engineering
The Data & Analytics Engineering organization of Liberty Mutual Global Retail Marketing is expanding its architecture/innovation team. The Data Solutions Engineer will design solution architectures and evaluate technologies for applicability that translate complex business requirements into usable computer systems. Data Solutions Engineers work with data architects and data modelers to evaluate data products and design data integrations that meet organizational needs using conceptual and logical architecture models. Their models are designed to improve efficiency and business value and may focus on issues such as reducing data redundancy, improving data quality or improving data movement across systems.
An ideal Data Solutions Engineer is an analytical and creative thinker who is not intimidated by roadblocks and challenges. They understand how to successfully evaluate problems and develop appropriate solutions. Solutions Engineers perform well under pressure, possessing great focus while completing projects efficiently. They should be able to work well as part of a team, but also carry responsibility for their own work. Solutions Engineers also need to be able to work on multiple projects at a time, with the ability to quickly understand and incorporate new technologies. Below are the skills and abilities that Information Management will look for in a Solutions Engineer.
What you will do:
Work with the Data Office, Data & Analytics Engineering and Application Development teams to translate business needs into data solutions
Create and Maintain Conceptual and Logical architecture diagrams
Support Agile squads with adoption of new technical solutions
Participate in Data Architecture procedures and policy management
Mentor and contribute to Data Management and Data Architecture standards and best practices
What you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
Previous experience translating Business rules into Conceptual and Logical architecture solutions that are anchored with OLTP / OLAP / Graph / NoSQL databases
Familiarity with Data Warehouse modeling techniques like Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional
5+ years experience with cloud-based integration solutions (Snaplogic, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, MQ, API)
3+ years experience with AWS services (S3, Glacier, EC2, Step Function)
3+ years experience with cloud-based Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments (Snowflake)
Experience in converting relational data to semi-structured data (XML, JSON) or vice versa
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively on large scale data projects
Experience in these areas is a Plus:
Experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio
Experience with Teradata
Experience with MDM solutions
Exposure to Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, MicroStrategy)
Has worked with industry standard canonical models
