Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) is currently recruiting an Electrical Engineer for Fossil/Hydro Technical Services located at the Corporate Campus in Cayce, SC. Candidates will be evaluated based on education, training, and experience in accordance with the engineering criteria listed below.

This position is responsible for providing electrical engineering and/or instrumentation and controls support to the DESC Fossil, Hydro, and Combustion Turbine facilities.
Responsibilities will include developing specifications, reviewing and evaluating proposals, coordinating with vendors supplying equipment and services, developing installation drawings, and participating in acceptance testing, checkout, start-up, and commissioning of electrical and/or controls systems.
Responsibilities will also include managing assigned projects within budget and schedule to produce results for Operations and assisting with problems as they arise.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Must also be computer proficient, have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills, good business economics skills, interpersonal skills, interface with other project disciplines, ability to conduct meetings, and good decision-making capabilities.
Utility Power Plant Experience, familiarity with the electrical power and process industries is preferred.
Have the ability to develop Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, and Wiring Diagrams.
A working knowledge of generators, excitation equipment, transformers, medium and low voltage switchgear, breakers, motor control centers, and internal combustion turbines and hydro-electric units is preferred.
Knowledge of power plant processes and control systems, or ability to learn these processes and control systems would be preferred. These control systems may include DCS and/or PLC control systems.
Experience with SKM Power Tools software is a preferred.
Fossil power plant experience is preferred.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Must be willing and able to respond to emergency callouts and to work weekends and holidays when needed.
Travel to the DESC Fossil/Hydro Generations Facilities will be required.
Education Requirements

Engineer II Description:
Must have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 1 years of engineering experience.
Assists in design and engineering support.
Minor coordination and leadership responsibilities.
Performs engineering calculations, design and design interpretations, prepares specifications and reports as required.

Engineer III Description:
Must have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 4 years of engineering experience.
Designs projects or parts of projects. Schedules and coordinates field projects.
Performs tests and inspections of material, equipment and/or processes.
Directs and supervises others as required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

EIT certification is required.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of South Carolina and/or Virginia is a plus.
