LinQuest is seeking a software engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This position will support the development of mission-unique satellite ground system components; this includes design, develop, test, and integrate mission-unique ground system software for planning, telemetry processing, commanding, and automation of satellite operations. This position supports LinQuest on the STEC14 contract performing mission readiness, planning, preparation, execution, and evaluation for satellite launch and early orbit operations, on-orbit operations.
LinQuest operates a variety of satellites for the Air Force's Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) under the STEC contract at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. This contract supports on-orbit operations of six unique satellites, with more scheduled to launch over the next 3 years. We are looking for high quality, motivated professionals to join our team.
Create and deploy scripting tools for spacecraft and ground system automation, including test and evaluation of such tools prior to operational acceptance by the government
Design, integrate, document, and test software enhancements
Support operational evaluation and acceptance of software releases and hardware upgrades. This includes planning and preparation, operation of the equipment, performance evaluation, and risk and suitability assessments
Provide evaluation of ground system and network status, troubleshoot problems, participate in resolution activities, and document the problems
Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures
Analyze satellite ground systems loading and architecture/infrastructure and recommend improvements
Analyze proposed missions to determine their compatibility with existing ground systems or other control networks and system resources
Experience in software development and modification in C++, C#, and/or Python
Scripting experience in Windows and Linux environments
Logical thinking and problem solving
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Interpersonal skills in a team environment
Experience with the following satellite ground systems/TT&C platforms: Neptune CGA, Horizon, Maestro, SAM, or Cosmos
Education, experience, and/or domain knowledge to perform systems engineering and integration tasks in support of spacecraft pre-launch, launch and early orbit (L&EO), and on-orbit operations and support services.
Experience with research, development and test operations for DoD experimental and demonstration satellites, space vehicles, or satellite ground control systems
3 or more years’ experience
BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field
US Citizenship and an active DOD Secret required to be considered for the position
DoD Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access
Prior experience or interaction with the US Air Force or other government agency
Experience relevant to satellite operations and/or research and development environments
