POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Maine office.
The position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards.
Perform the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to:
Protection and control schematic development
Substation physical layouts
Conduit and cable sizing/routing
AC and DC systems calculations and sizing
Participation in quality assurance and quality control programs.
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
Candidate must have understanding of substation equipment and its function.
Candidate shall have good command of the Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Three (3) or more years experience in utility substation design is preferred.
Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and such.
Ability to provide material take-off lists such as P&C equipment, wire conduit, HV connectors, and bus supports.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
