Jacob’s Energy and Power Solutions Group has a rewarding opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer focusing on power generation applications.This position reports directly to the Energy & Power Manager, or a Senior Engineer.
Under minimal supervision from senior engineer, new hire will assist Project Engineers by performing the routine aspects of mechanical engineering assignments
Prepares drawings detailing the system designed using Revit and AutoCAD
Assists the senior engineer in processing RFIs and Change Orders.
Performs mechanical design calculations (i.e., heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, process piping, etc.), sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment
Perform energy analysis (concept/high level and detailed) on utility plant and building projects and prepares Energy compliance calculations and forms
Selects equipment and fixtures for use in the building and plants
Performs construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects
Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group.
Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers and architects, and recommends necessary changes.
Researches code issues and works with City, State, and County jurisdictions.
Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
May attend kick-off and design review meetings, and interacts with clients as his or her level of experience progresses
BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
Professional Registration (P.E.) is required
Minimum 5 years related experience in utility plant or building design as an engineering professional is required
Experience working with design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit) is required
Knowledge of basic engineering principles and prescribed methods is required
Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks accurately and on time is required
Engineering design of HVAC and Plumbing on industrial, federal, or commercial projects through a previous job or internship is preferred
Experience related to utility plants or infrastructure (steam, heating hot water, cogeneration, chilled water) is preferred
Some travel is required
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, is required
