In this role, you will be focused around the development of world-class complete seat and seat belt assemblies for our Honda and Acura vehicles to bring seating system joy to our customers. As a Seat and Seat belt design engineer, you own all aspects of development, from the concept stage to production release. You will be innovating with several different and complex commodities including seat foam, soft trim goods including leather and fabric, seat craftsmanship, structural seat frame and electro-mechanical devices, wire harnesses, safety components, climate and comfort technologies including heating and ventilated seats, and more. Potential exists to help develop new seating technologies that would be applied to future models. Activities include making 3D and 2D layouts for your parts, develop and negotiate specifications, plan and manage your part schedule, working closely with suppliers to maintain critical part and vehicle targets. You will ensure that all marketability, reliability, regulatory, profitability, manufacturing, and design requirements and targets are met with high quality. You will collaborate with other design groups, styling, test, manufacturing, and team leadership to develop world class seating designs that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. You will demonstrate your critical thinking skills, ability to apply sound fundamental engineering principals, making sound judgements and proposals, as well as collaborate in a cross-function team environment to solve complex and challenging problems.

Engineering Solution Design – Draft engineering solutions for an assigned component / simple part (or more complex parts with supervision) and the associated drawings and validation processes, to gather data and provide feedback on their feasibility, costs, quality and performance.
Engineering Specifications – Carry out a range of activities under the guidance (but not direct supervision) of more senior engineers to draft engineering specifications for an assigned component / simple part and the evaluation of their effectiveness, to inform manufacturing work in the organization and / or of its suppliers. Ensure functional safety standards are met.
Data Collection and Analysis - Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
Integration & Correlation – Work within an established framework and with available guidance to integrate assigned parts into the vehicle. Interactions and correlations are typically at the department and division level, but may extend beyond it to correlate with other teams (i.e., design, testing, manufacturing, styling, service) for the assignment at hand.
Supplier Management – Work with existing suppliers to coordinate requirements, schedule activities, and address issues in a timely manner. May lead guest (suppliers') engineers and / or contractors. There is readily available guidance and support from senior engineers and technical experts.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Aero or Automotive Engineering or a related field
1+ years of experience
Past experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 or V6 preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Ability to travel and work overtime as required

In this role the associate is expected to collect/produce technical data/information for the components/assemblies they are responsible, based on company strategies, program direction, cost/weight/investment targets, program timing and marketability targets.
Incorporating existing technical strategies & content into their parts/assemblies within their areas of responsibility.
Primary working location is seated at a desk
Limited lifting of parts and part dunnage maybe required on occasion
OT required as necessary to achieve program deliverables.
