The Project/Controls Engineer will act as a key technical resource in engineering excellence for the development and implementation of capital projects and permits to optimize operating performance in the areas of safety, quality, production and reliability. This person will also maintain and improve control systems and data historians in support of plant production, quality, GMP and safety goals.
As Project/Controls Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Execute projects, establish and meet budgets, schedule and supervise project activities, train personnel, supervise start-up and coordinate with all departments.
Design and implement capital permits and projects as identified and assigned, within budget and on time, delivering targeted return on investment and in compliance with engineering standards.
Align with all plant regulatory (ISO, Quality, Food Safety systems, GMP) policies, guidelines, standards, and requirements.
Document to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, efficient knowledge transfer and protection of the workforce and equipment.
Acquire knowledge of new technologies and applications that may be beneficial to the business. Share knowledge and provide assistance within the group, with other plants and any other customers within the organization.
Train maintenance, contractors, operations, and engineers to understand the design and operation of control systems and data historians. Manage the activities as well when implementing projects and changes to control systems.
Ensure the control systems, data historians, and documentation (including validation of PSM where required) are capable of supporting the safety, quality and production goals in the plant to meet business needs.
Maintain, design, and implement changes to the plant data historians and control systems. Participate in control systems lifecycle planning to ensure they are sustainable and fit for use as they approach obsolescence.
Evaluate and develop skills required to ensure safe and efficient operation of controls equipment and data historians.

Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, and/or equivalent experience in project management, process engineering or process controls.
3+ years engineering experience demonstrating successful implementation of solutions, including effective project management of small to large scale projects.
Experience with project management techniques.
Knowledge of and experience with plant process control systems.
Experience with Provox DCS, DeltaV, OSI PI or Aspen a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of plant automation equipment operation, installation and commissioning of equipment, analog control theory, configuration, and tuning.
Knowledge of engineering and unit operations relevant to the corn wet milling (or food, chemical, bio-chemical or pharmaceutical) industry, such as basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, drying, material handling, CGMP, and energy management.
