Playtex Manufacturing, Inc. , Manufacturing Engineer - ESP , Dover, DE – Provide technical expertise and leadership to improve the performance of plant process equipment through the application of appropriate tools, methods and resources. Use root cause analysis (RCA) methods to identify reliability of the overall manufacturing process. Identify & analyze key performance metrics relative to accountable for improving them. Work with the production scheduling and operations team in identifying process choke points and overall capacity constraints. Identify & maximize resource management opportunities to minimize downtime associated with planned events such as Change Overs (C/O’s) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities. Responsible for identifying day to day as well as strategic improvements and developing applicable strategies and action plans to resolve. Lead process related capital projects from design and implementation through to follow up stage. Utilize, train and lead others through defined manufacturing/Engineering and tools and methods such as Lean Manufacturing, SMED principles, value stream mapping, kaizen events, Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Routine Equipment Care (REC) programs. Responsible for developing and reviewing equipment specifications or design parameters to ensure equipment can meet reliability objectives. Carry out life cycle cost analyses to determine cost effective strategies for replacing or rebuilding assets or components. Work with the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (MPS) team to develop both the Asset Health Management foundation and the Work Execution Management work streams supporting the asset base. Work with the MPS team to develop, evaluate, and make changes to equipment maintenance plans and develop job plans for specific rebuild needs. Champion reliability efforts through training, coaching and mentoring others and identify reliability tools needed for the process or task. Work closely with Engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers to design reliability and standardization of parts into new equipment. Identify & lead in securing tooling, fixtures and gages to assist the manufacturing team with change overs and day to day needs. Utilize necessary software tools including MS Office, Solidworks, AutoCAD /Inventor and SAP.
Applicant must a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment in industry closely related to Class I/II absorbent products high speed, high volume manufacturing and packaging equipment. In the alternative, employer will accept: Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment in industry closely related to Class I/II absorbent products high speed, high volume manufacturing and packaging equipment. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience in: 1.) 2 years’ experience in utilizing manufacturing/Engineering tools and methods in LEAN Manufacturing, 5S & kaizen methods; 2.) 2 years’ experience with resource management, cost reduction and capacity constraints; 3.) 2 years’ experience with parts modeling, developing tooling, fixtures/assemblies and gages; 4.) 2 years’ experience assessing and setting operational targets for continuous improvement; 5.) 2 years’ experience utilizing engineering software tools such as: MS Office, Solidworks and AutoCAD; 6.) 2 years’ experience with ISO requirements; and 7.) 2 years’ experience with Bills of Material (BOM)/ wiring diagram developing and maintenance.
