Horizons Incorporated is a medium sized manufacturing company that develops and manufactures specialized aluminum identification products. Our products are used for applications as diverse as architectural signage to barcode labels on F-16s.
We were founded in 1946 as a research and development company and retain an entrepreneurial, technology focus. Today, we have 180 employees, 3 locations (Cleveland, OH, Cincinnati, OH & Bristol, England), and conduct business around the world. Our 70,000 square foot manufacturing operation includes three continuous production lines (anodizing and coating), one batch anodizing operation and several fabrication and assembly cells.
We are seeking a manufacturing engineer to help us implement sustainable process improvements that reduce uncertainty and improve quality and throughput. Qualified candidates will be engineering thinkers who enjoy complicated problems with lots of variables and apparent uncertainty. Technical aptitude is important, but so are leadership/communication and critical thinking skills. Our issues often leap frog from mechanical, electrical, chemical, and human/behavioral. Your ability to traverse those true manufacturing dynamics will dictate your success.
We need someone who is ready to really make a difference.
Horizons Incorporated is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran.
Qualified Candidates Will Have Ability To …
Engineer and implement improvements to equipment and manufacturing processes.
Analyze and document our manufacturing processes; identify drivers of variation that reduce throughput and quality
Propose engineering improvements to reduce variation and improve throughput. Employ a toolbox of skills and techniques such as Kaizen, 5S, Flow, and Lean Manufacturing to drive improvement.
Lead problem solving teams to implement solutions. Use visual management systems and lean tools (A3, 5S, etc.) to drive continuous improvement and empower team members to manage their own output & quality.
Monitor and audit manufacturing processes for any variable that may impact quality or throughput to assure that quality & throughput are maintained.
Propose quality requirements for manufacturing processes and finished product outputs where requirements are lacking (e.g. standards and methods for operation, inspection, testing and evaluation).
Assist with quality planning for any new product launches.
