Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for an Associate, Engineering role to work at our Benton Harbor location. The ideal candidate is someone from an electronics background who has designed high volume mid power, high quality products. Whirlpool is looking for a strategic thinker, someone with the ability to create a strategy and a vision for this role.
Develop and validate embedded hardware applications
Design hardware solutions to drive system optimization, improve module/component design and enhance product reliability
Interact with system architects/ integrators to review and consolidate application requirements
Select and integrate hardware modules to build embedded hardware applications
Electronic / Electrical circuit model simulation
PCB (Printed Circuit Boards) layout design, applied simulation and component selection for hardware execution
Prototype assembly, bring up, debugging, and functional verification
Manage project KPI’s (cost, quality, schedule)
ECM (Electronic Control Manufacture) management (technical) until pilot (connecting with procurement as needed)
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline
1 plus years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
Electrical engineering background (both hardware and software)
Experience with Hardware and PCB, (Printed Circuit Boards ) layout development and tools
Work with both Global and regional groups within Whirlpool
Familiar with OPEX (6Sigma) EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and EMI (Electromagnetic Immunity) theory, A3 Methodology, Power supply Theory
Experience in prototype bring up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing
Experience designing high volume products
Experience in small embedded systems, 8-bit and 16-bit controllers
Experience in system integration, processor selection, various communication protocols, analog integration, AC loads (<1000W), power supplies, LED driving circuits
Experience with project assessment and risk management, developing projects
