What’s the Job? As a Transportation Planning Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Division of the Development and Engineering Services Department, you will work in every aspect of traffic engineering with a small, but dedicated team. The primary duties of this position include: Internal and external customer service, development reviewSigning and striping review and design, traffic observations and studies, neighborhood traffic Management, project management, and School traffic circulation and maps. Use of CCTV cameras and basic Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations This position is primarily office-based, working in Peoria’s TMC, though it does require occasional fieldwork and observations. See full job description here The ideal candidate for this position: Is a registered Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or highly skilled transportation technician or planner with extensive knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other federal traffic engineering guidelines, state statutes, and regional best practices in traffic engineering. The ideal candidate is a detailed oriented problem solver who is capable of working independently as well as a member of a team. Finally, the ideal candidate is a problem solver who enjoys identifying safety and operational concerns, developing and implementing solutions, and monitoring after project implementation.
