Staff Engineer - Systems Engineering

Role Summary:
GE Aviation is looking for Staff Engineers to join our fast-growing Advanced Military Systems Engineering business. The Staff Engineer’s prime responsibility will be to lead the design and development of Power & Thermal Management System (PTMS) efforts for Next Generation Navy applications.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
  • Lead business initiatives in design, materials, manufacturing, quality and/or productivity
  • Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity
  • Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization
  • Lead technical reviews and participate as a reviewer
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least 5 additional years experience in an engineering position
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
Desired Characteristics:
  • Current/active SECRET clearance
  • Experience with air cycles, vapor cycles, and/or heat exchangers
  • Experience with analytical software packages such as NPSS and Matlab/Simulink
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to guide and influence others
  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
  • At least 8 additional years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position
