epocrates is seeking a Product Manager for our data and content management platform that powers the user experience. In this role you’ll be working on epocrates, the most trusted medical reference application in the US, used by 1M healthcare providers annually including 50% of the doctors in the US.
Our multi-disciplinary team of SMEs -- front and backend engineers, product management veterans, medical doctors and PharmDs, visual designers, UX researchers, data experts, and more -- work together to enable health care providers to make excellent clinical decisions for their patients with epocrates.
The Product Manager is responsible for developing vision and roadmap for a complex data and content platform product, working with stakeholders to build the product. This is a rare opportunity to build a core platform from ground up, from conceptualizing to planning to execution.
This is a great role for someone with mid-level experience in product management who is looking to advance their career by owning a large complex platform from end to end. This role will allow you to work with SMEs who have deep experience in the healthcare area, experienced engineering team, and application product managers and engineers who will rely on your work. Additionally, you will get the opportunity to deep dive into our knowledge graph.
A platform product manager is a highly challenging and highly impactful role. They are responsible for prioritizing and supporting the work of multiple consumer-facing products. With that, we are seeking a fast-learning, open-minded, problem-solving product manager, who excels at working with multi-stake holders while thinking independently. Because this is a platform that will have long-term impact to our business, the candidate needs to have the passion to think big into the future and have the patience to take care of detailed feature implementation. The candidate is not afraid to make difficult tradeoff decisions and is able to effectively communicate them to stakeholders.
Product Vision and Roadmap: You will work with stakeholders to envision a data and content management platform that serves current requirements as well as future needs. You will build a roadmap that maps to a multi-year reality and to quarterly plan.
Product Owner: You will work directly with a dedicated scrum team in the Product Owner role to prioritize the team’s work and ensure the products that are built are the products you envision. In addition, you will own the care and maintenance of our existing content manage tool, including triaging/prioritizing any production defects or other external demands for incorporation into the roadmap as necessary.
Product Evangelist: You will be the face of the platform to gain buy in across the organization for your vision and roadmap, communicate tradeoffs, promote launches, and celebrate team wins.
4-6 years product management experience.
Experience bringing at least one major platform product successfully to market HIGHLY preferred.
Sufficient technical understanding of data products and uniqueness of platform products to effectively navigate tradeoffs, understand technical investments, discuss best practices.
Excellent understanding of product management best practices, including working within agile development environments.
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with energy & enthusiasm for solving unknowns
Strong analytic and quantitative capabilities. You have a data-driven mindset, but pragmatic approach to your work.
