Currently, HGL is seeking a highly motivated junior level environmental engineer to join our team in St. Louis, Missouri. Our St Louis office is dedicated to supporting the USACE Formerly Utilized Site Remediation Program (FUSRAP) involved in the cleanup of radiological contamination. We are looking for an energetic individual to expand their knowledge and capability working on complex environmental projects with a collaborative multi-disciplinary project team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Assisting geologist, CAD and GIS professionals in preparing and interpreting the results of environmental investigations and characterization studies of soil, sediment and surface water;
Working with engineers, geologists, project managers and other technical staff in the development of studies and strategies for remediation of contaminated media;
Development of engineering studies, plans, designs and specifications for the remediation of environmental contamination under the supervision of an experienced engineer;
Support in development of cost estimates and construction workplans for remedial construction;
Providing technical support during the construction/implementation of engineering designs;
Excellent communication and organization skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Projects including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to interpret data and formulate conclusions and technical approaches
Must be able to execute multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
Working knowledge of ArcGIS or AutoCAD software and integration with field GPS data collection activities. Ability to support a variety of remedial construction activities is preferred.
Previous experience (2 years or more) of relevant environmental experience associated with investigations, reporting, engineering studies and/or construction.
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
Master's Degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to take Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or ability to obtain. 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.
A pre-hire drug test is required, and some position require a baseline physical exam. Some positions may require US Citizenship.Local travel in the St. Louis area and vicinity will be required.
