Lonza Pharma & Biotech has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Product Development in their Bend, OR location.
As a Senior Engineer, Product Development, you will apply your knowledge of engineering, material science, and chemistry to solve drug delivery, formulation, process development and manufacturing challenges to progress pharmaceutical products through development and on to commercialization.
Collaborate with client and internal team members to define formulation, process, and product development approach
Present experimental results to internal teams and/or clients
Evaluate pharmaceutical equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Assist and support GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) manufacturing by participating in study design and execution, training, clinical tech transfer, investigation support, product commercialization and ongoing product support, equipment design and qualification, and change control
Support scheduling and coordinating of work plan execution to ensure safe, high quality, and on time delivery of project milestones across multiple projects
Advance appropriate models to relate key product attributes to material attributes and process parameters
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) / technical expert in specific area(s) of expertise as required across portfolio of programs/products
Build development and regulatory knowledge base to support specific program goals such as regulatory submissions
Identify opportunities for new technologies and/or improvements to existing technologies
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Chemistry or Engineering related technical discipline with working knowledge in engineering or PhD with some experience
Understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, industry guidelines highly desired
Knowledge of GMP practices is preferred
Experience in advancing drug products through late stages of clinical development is highly desirable
Knowledge of engineering fundamentals including chemistry, materials science, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, conservation of mass and energy, and basic mathematical modeling
Proven technical skills in problem solving, data gathering, and interpretation
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to lead, train, and direct activities of a team toward time-sensitive deliverables
