The person in this position will work with multi-discipline project teams and provide mineral and chemical process, extractive metallurgical, and related technical/engineering support for a variety of applications. Work may include conducting process design and analysis, detailed process mass and energy balance modeling, and laboratory and pilot plant testing; developing process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams; developing technical reports and equipment specifications; estimating capital and operating costs; and sizing process piping and equipment. Projects will entail working with base and precious metals, industrial minerals and evaporites, and coal, as well as chemicals and fuels. The work may at times require short-term, out-of-town work assignments and hands-on fieldwork.
B.S. in chemical engineering, metallurgy, mineral processing, or materials science with academic coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Willingness to work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative
A flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
Familiarity with basic Microsoft Office software packages, especially Excel
Acceptable driving record
Ability to legally work in both the United States and Canada without the need for sponsorship, or eligibility to obtain a TN work permit
MS in chemical or metallurgical engineering
Experience working at industrial sites either as an operating engineer or as a consultant
At least 2 years of related experience
Experience in hydrometallurgy
Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure or EIT status
NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of industrial sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided for work in these areas.
