Reporting to the Director, Advanced Development Group (ADG), the Senior Principal Engineer is responsible for the research, testing, integration, and follow-on development of concepts for general aviation aircraft and/or services. The candidate must excel at working closely with all areas of the Product Development group including Design, Experimental, Engineering Flight Test, and others to define new research and development concepts and test articles, along with providing input for new features on existing programs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
This position is primarily responsible for research and development of products and/or services.
Research and prototype new approaches and techniques.
Provide / Design new product concepts.
Make recommendations for new technology insertion.
Provide technical input and direction on new features to existing products.
Define R&D test concepts, select materials and generate experimental work orders.
Document design concepts sufficiently for Engineering to develop.
Other duties and Responsibilities as defined by the Director, ADG.

Education and/or Experience:
15+ years in aircraft design
BS degree in a technical discipline
Pilot experience preferred
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
Ability to organize and communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
Ability to manage multiple research objectives and set research goals
Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
Use of lab and workshop equipment
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
Ability to do rapid prototyping and be a fast learner
Comfortable working in an experimental shop environment
Safe and efficient use standard hand tools and equipment used in a R&D environment
Comfortable driving to results under uncertainty
Experience with 3D modeling tools
