We are looking for full time Mechanical Engineer Interns for our Outdoor Consumer teams to design and develop basic mechanical designs and utilize SolidWorks software to model basic parts in a team oriented environment at our location in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you’ll also be responsible for applying your knowledge of math, science and physics, strong spatial skills, and a pragmatic approach to partner with experienced engineers in taking product concepts to mass production. Other essential functions in this role include:
Applies design standards and procedures to implement basic mechanical designs. Knowledge in opto-mechanical is a plus.
Model basic parts and components including injection molded plastic, die cast aluminum and zinc, sheet metal, CNC machined and screw machine fabricated parts, compression molded rubber, extrusions, display components, flex circuits, touch panels, speaker enclosures, mounting systems, etc.
Ability to develop, analyze and conduct test plans for basic mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements.
Interface with Optical engineers, Electrical Engineers, Industrial Designers, and toolmakers for discussion of basic designs.
Maintain configuration control of documentation for products in all NPI phases.
Qualified candidates for this role will have completed coursework towards a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description with a minimum cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0. Other requirements include:
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
A cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 and previous experience with SolidWorks and relevant mechanical design is highly preferred!
