Product Applications Engineer

What we’re looking for:
Winchester Interconnect has an immediate opening for a Product Applications Engineer for the Greater San Diego area. Cable Manufacturing key markets encompass industrial controls, commercial aircraft communications systems, defense ground and air communications systems, naval shipboard, and undersea applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in these market applications for cable and wire harness interface and want to work in a dynamic team-based environment. Primarily responsible for supporting the sales department understanding the product interface, creating and maintaining work instructions, improving manufacturing methods and completing engineering projects.

Job Responsibilities:
Meet with customers to clarify design and application issues.
Create and maintain work instructions.
Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing processes.
Complete engineering projects.
Address corrective actions and engineering change requests.
Maintain and update portions of the Quality Management System (QMS), including document control.

Criteria for Success:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering and 3-5 years equivalent experience.
Maintaining confidentiality of all company documents and proprietary information is also required.
Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal, ability to clearly communicate design ideas.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, upper management, and staff.
Efficient in producing error-free design work.
Able to manage multiple projects in tandem.

Technical Expertise:
IPC-J-STD-001 & IPC-WHMA-620; Corrective Action; Root Cause Analysis; Internal Auditing; Six Sigma; Kaizen. Certifications or knowledge base highly recommended.
Familiarity with ERP Systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
Experience using Google Apps and G-Suite applications a plus.
