Directly supervise the activities of the departments’ crews. Facilitate development plans for all employees in each area of responsibility.
Analyze operational data for developing reporting tools for efficiency improvements and troubleshooting
Assist in projects that provide significant savings through product substitution, reduced variability, improved quality, and higher operating efficiencies
Improve and optimize processes; provide assistance to production areas in evaluating changes to operation and quality problems encountered and through the use of data analysis and tools
Assist production areas with troubleshooting and other assistance as needed and through the use of data analysis and tools
Work closely with hourly crews in developing or changing procedures to improve safety, operations, cost, quality and efficiency
Adhere to safe work practices, good housekeeping, follow-up and correction of unsafe acts and conditions, participate in mill and departmental safety programs and meetings
Assist operators in defining lockboxes and reviewing them prior to use
Work beyond normal work schedule as necessary to fulfill position responsibilities
Provide on-call and weekend duty coverage within a designated rotation
Carry out other responsibilities related to position as required
At least three years of experience in the pulp or paper industry
Bachelor’s Degree in pulp and paper, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desire to work in an industrial environment and production atmosphere and climb in/around equipment
Strong leadership capabilities
Possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management.
Proficient in the use of mill information systems such as SAP, Microsoft Applications, internet, etc.
Write technical reports that clearly document trials, process improvement results and capture cause and effect relationships
Work in a team-based system

Possess ambulatory capabilities to move freely about the mill, ascend and descend ladders and stairways, and tolerate temperature extremes
