Description:
Involta is currently seeking a full-time Network Specialist for its Youngstown, Ohio location. The Network Specialist is responsible for Network Infrastructure, Security and VPN configuration for client networks, as well as the implementation of projects, monitoring LAN/WAN network devices and helping ensure an optimized and stable network infrastructure. In addition, this entry level position will manage a ticket queue, escalate issues to appropriate team members and ensure the creation and maintenance of documentation through the change process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Installs, configures and maintains organization’s LAN/WAN infrastructure objects, e.g. routers, switches and hubs
  • Monitors routers and switches for bandwidth usage and throughput, reports information to team
  • Installs, configures and maintains firewalls, intrusion detection network sensors and VPN
  • Participates in reviewing existing instructions, guidelines, standards and policies seeking continuous improvement
  • Assists in developing instructions, guidelines, standards and /or policies. Seeks resolution to Tier III work orders escalated through the IT Support Process
  • Develops and publishes monthly production statistics, as directed, to report on system performance
  • Works within a team environment; typically with guidance from a senior network engineer, project lead or manager
  • Request appropriate information from the client to understand the urgency and resolve the problem
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely manner that generates the company’s brand loyalty

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • BA or BS Degree – Computer Information Management or related discipline preferred
  • 2 + years network experience
Technical Knowledge:
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016 and Windows 7 / 10 Desktop operating systems
  • Experience managing Cisco Call Manager a plus
  • Experience managing Cisco or comparable enterprise wireless solutions
  • Demonstrates an expert knowledge level on Cisco IOS for switches and routers
  • Firewall and Cisco Pix experience
  • Understanding of server virtualization
