Mechanical Engineer Job Duties: Design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery; Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as electronics enclosures, radar support structures, heat exchangers etc.; Will be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products; Assist to produce specifications for, design, develop, manufacture and install new or modified mechanical components or systems; Participate in technical and programmatic meetings, supports integrated product teams, develops briefings; Provide consulting to systemlevel designs, including costing, lead times, alternatives, etc; Purchase mechanical hardware and components, coordinate with outside vendors, and ensure that received parts meet desired specifications.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

3660 months Mechanical engineering work/military experience.
Skills

Strong desire to learn new technical skills
3D CAD/modeling experience

Willingness to work as an integral part of a highenergy team of engineers and scientists

Certifications:
None

Advertised Physical Requirements:
Must be able to climb, communicate, bend, feel, hear, lift 50 lbs, pull, reach, sit, stand and engage in repetitive motions.

Departmental Preferences:
MS in Mechanical Engineering
Proficiency in the design, analysis, modeling, integration, and testing of mechanical components

  • Experience with common metal manufacturing and fabrication processes
  • Solidworks 3D CAD/modeling experience
  • Thermal, fluid and structural simulation experience (e.g., ANSYS)
  • Experience with radars and associated technologies, familiar with basic radar concepts
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Desire to interact with students and faculty
  • Ability to multitask effectively in support of multiple projects
