The Manitoba government is seeking a Chief Power Engineer to work at Headingley Correctional Centre.

Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must have a 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification Registered with the Province of Manitoba.
Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment.
Must have satisfactory Criminal Record Check, security check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Qualifications:Essential:
Manitoba 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate.
Extensive experience in power plant/facility management, operations and maintenance.
Supervisory experience, including highly developed coaching and leadership skills.
Experience using the programs of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Experience using Building Automation/Controls e.g. HVAC applications such as Delta DDC system or other PLC controlled systems.
Knowledge of policies and regulations related to operation of boilers and steam plants.
Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies and legislation.
Analytical and decision making skills.
Organizational and time management skills.
Interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.

Desired:
Knowledge of budget and capital asset management with respect to plant equipment and facility management.
Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System, such as SAP or other related software.

Duties:
The Chief Power Engineer is responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of a 3rd Class High Pressure Heating Plant, and all of its auxiliaries. The incumbent will also supervise the operation of heating/cooling, water supply and electrical generating equipment, respond to fire alarms, and observe and record all readings relating to energy consumption, steam and water pressures and cooling systems. The incumbent will be required to complete chemical testing and adding of chemicals for the boiler, chilled water and cooling tower systems, test run emergency stand-by generators, fire booster pumps, as well as following regulations set out by the Department of Labour with regards to safe operations and inspections. This position will provide supervision and guidance to employees in less senior technical positions such as Operating Engineers and Maintenance Assistants.
