Position Summary: UDRI is seeking an entry level engineer to assist in solving structural and systems problems on a variety of military platforms and applications. These activities will involve the application of fundamental engineering principles to the computational design/analysis and experimental testing of aerospace systems to improve performance, efficiency, durability, or affordability.
A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is required. The candidate must be proficient using the standard suite of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. The candidate must have experience working with solid modeling software (e.g. SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and Matlab. The candidate must have strong verbal and interpersonal skills, and must be able to interact effectively with other engineers, as well as with current and potential customers. Due to the security clearance requirements of this position, US citizenship is required. The candidate must be able to pass a National Agency Check.
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software, including pre-processing of models and post-processing of results, is desired. Experience working with hypersonic vehicle structures is desired. A fundamental understanding of high temperature material behavior is desired.
