Southeastern is currently looking to add a Project Engineer to our growing Real Estate Group. In this role, you would be responsible for managing facets of various real estate projects in an efficient manner, as well as managing project/department documentation. You will provide budget recommendations, estimate time requirements, and determine the resources necessary for meeting all project goals. You will also assist in other Real Estate matters including maintenance projects, lease property support, site acquisitions, site inspections, etc., as the workload dictates. What you’ll do on a typical day
- Communicate with consulting Engineers/Architects to assist in the production of schematics and technical plans for Company projects. Review and discuss required materials and products to include lead time
- Provide sketches of site plans, floor plans, etc., as requested and estimate project costs according to the plans and specifications furnished. Obtain bid prices from contractors and prepare a Contractor Qualification Questionnaire before invitation to bids are mailed. Prepare specifications and instructions for bidders in order to secure accurate bid and proposal
- Assist with developing project schedules once projects are approved. Evaluate building or work progress to ensure project is on schedule. This includes reviewing shop drawings, grading, and building plans when required, after contract is awarded
- Prepare various construction files (i.e., contracts, architect, pictures, progress reports, inspection reports, running sheet totals, etc.) and assist in keeping all files up-to-date and organized
- Receive and distribute final closeout documents regarding final completion of project This includes submittals, shop drawings, maintenance manuals, subcontractor list, lien releases, substantial completion, certificates of occupancy, as built plans, etc.
- Collect comprehensive data related to various aspects of projects and analyze trends to help determine how to manage change and growth
- Conduct regular meetings with appropriate parties to ensure alignment related to project goals and timelines and to provide clarification as needed
- Delegate tasks to project members according to their individual skill sets, experience, and abilities to ensure efficient completion of the project
- Maintain budgets and make adjustments according to needs as they arise
- Track performance and analyze the completion of key goals inclusive of historical cost reporting
- Document and report project progress to stakeholders as it relates to budget, contract, and schedule
- Responsible for contract and change order management
Here are the key things you will need to have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural Design
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or a current/valid Green Card Holder
- 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction
- Previous experience in project design, financial analysis, contract assessments, contract management, and project engineering
