About the Opportunity:
As an integral member of the Online Experiential Learning (OEL) project management team, the Assistant Project Manager, OEL will support and report to the Director of Project Management. S/he will be responsible for aiding in the development and execution of project plans for institutional initiatives, divisional strategic initiatives and projects, and the regular creation of online and hybrid degree programs within multiple colleges at the University.
The APM will work with Product Managers, Learning Experience Designers, Multimedia Developers, third party partners, and various academic departments to manage projects and expectations to successful completion and fulfillment. S/he will be responsible for managing multiple project schedules, identifying and resolving conflicts, and communicating key status updates. The APM will ensure operational efficiencies are maintained throughout each project, and that any issues are prioritized correctly and addressed quickly. In addition, they will be responsible for maintaining project progress in internal PM software (Clarizen) and will serve as a technical expert for their project team members.
Core to the work, a successful candidate will identify development milestones and manage flexible development timelines. They must be able to manage projects with a collaborative approach and help to foster a team-based work environment. The position requires a high level of presence among the development team and the leadership team to quickly identify and escalate potential issues or delays. S/he will demonstrate high attention to detail, experience managing competing priorities, and excellent organizational skills.
Bachelor's degree required, ideally in project management or related discipline.
1-3 years' experience in in higher education, product development, consulting, publishing, or related field preferred.
Technical proficiency in project management tools and working knowledge of project management concepts and methodologies.
Strong analytical skills to discern key information, grasp potential ramifications, eliminate obstacles and proactively and creatively problem solve.
Research skills to gather data, draw conclusions and make effective recommendations.
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels.
Ability to maintain focus on priorities while multitasking. Adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
High degree of personal ownership and accountability.
Strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
