AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Junior Network Engineer. Responsibilities of the Junior Network Engineer include:
Monitor network hardware operations to ensure compliant configuration options per Air Force guidance.
Conduct testing of network design as provided and configured.
Assist in planning implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
Advise network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations as per existing policy and guidance.
Respond to trouble tickets and troubleshoot level 1 & 2 network issues.
Update trouble tickets and close out as per policy and within Service Level Agreement.
Additional responsibilities include:
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network/computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
May be assigned management of the systems administration function, including associated staff

Associate Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or related field
2+ years of experience in Computer Science or related field
CompTia Security+ Certification
CompTia Network+ Certification, CCENT or another vendor specific entry level network certification
Familiarity with automated trouble ticketing systems such as HP Service Manager or Remedy
Familiar with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
Knowledge of industry standard network engineering principles
Level 2 and below troubleshooting and issue resolution
Generate log files and reports and store them for future reference
Ability to use terminal emulation software and vendor specific GUI interfaces for device access
Ability to develop technical solutions to problems
Highly motivated, self-starter and team player with a high energy level and willingness to aggressively take on responsibility
Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to approach job responsibilities with a focus on process improvement
Able to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management, including executive management
Strong verbal and writing skills
Unconditional integrity and commitment to achieving goals
Cisco CCNA or other vendor specific associate level network engineering certification
Experience with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and Office suite
Familiarity with Air Force Network policy and procedures
