As an R&D Engineer (ME) you will be part of a diverse R&D team responsible for developing future life science instrumentation within the Life Sciences and Applied Markets Group (LSAG). This Group develops solutions that include instrument, software, and consumables, which enables customers in the life sciences research areas to study samples at the cellular level. This position would be based out of Winooski, Vermont in the USA.
You would be involved in developing novel products, components and systems using broad engineering skills. This role would also include solving simple to sophisticated design and development problems. While also assisting in product definition/concept generation to meet design and business growth objectives.
Responsibilities include:
Perform mechanical design for automated Life science instrumentation during development through product release including creating drawings, BOM’s and working with suppliers on the design and purchase of parts.
Actively participate in multi-functional project team meetings during product development (comprised of mechanical, electronics, firmware, software, applications, marketing, manufacturing, etc.).
Own the technical activities for new product development in accordance with established practices.
Follow the latest technology trends and propose new insights for further research and development.
Coordinate build of breadboard prototype instruments to demonstrate proof-of-concept results to show feasibility.
Solve and analyze technical issues in-depth to understand core problems and provide sound solutions.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or lesser degree with extensive proven work experience 8+ years in the field developing products may also be considered.
Minimum of 4+ years extensive work experience in Mechanical Engineering.
Excellent interpersonal skills can communicate complicated concepts clearly in a distributed project team environment.
Proficient with 3D parametric modeling CAD software, Solidworks required and Siemens NX Preferred.
Experience with ASME Y14.5 drafting standards is preferred.
Experience in leading technical activities during hardware development.
Experience in designing, building, and testing new products in an R&D environment applying relevant industry standards and engineering guidelines.
Proven experience of common manufacturing processes as well as manufacturing methods and production-oriented design.
Self-starter in conceptualizing and crafting novel products, component design, or concepts.
Good written communication skills.
