AutoPets, a leader in developing highly functional and connected pet care products, is seeking someone capable of taking on projects and making them their own! Working within the embedded systems engineering department this individual will be mentored by senior level engineers to design MCU based digital and analog circuits that interface with sensors, motors, and user interface devices such as keypads and leds. Utilizing CAD tools, this individual will design schematics, layout circuit board components and route multilayer traces all the while staying aware of reducing and/or eliminating EMI effects. Additionally, this position will require technical skills in setting up and testing prototype designs, prove software/electronic concepts, troubleshoot new and existing products, as well as collaborating with mechanical engineering and marketing teams to fully understand product specifications. This individual will take pride in seeing projects through the entire design process from concept to fully documented and production ready products.

Skills and Qualifications

Must Have

  • BS in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
  • 2+ Years Embedded Experience
  • Understanding of Embedded Systems at a very low-level
  • Understanding of Low-Level Hardware (discreet inexpensive sensors)
  • Understanding of Low-Level Software (bare metal on $2 MCU, CPU registers etc.)
  • Understanding of digital and analog components and circuits
  • Understanding of networks (UART, I2C, SPI, BLE, WIFI)
  • Experience with PCB CAD (Schematic, PCB Layout, and Trace Routing)
  • Experience with Power Supplies, Meters, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, etc.
  • Experience with soldering and basic electronic hand tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Eagle CAD
  • Experience with IOT Consumer Product Design
  • Understanding of EMC/EMI design
  • Understanding of Code of Federal Regulations (47 CFR Part 15)
  • Experience with PIC MCUs from Microchip
  • Experience with the ESP8266 or ESP32
  • Experience with PIC development systems, or similar systems for R&D of sensors, motors and basic I/O
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
