BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Jacobs Technology is looking for an Aerospace or Mechanical Engineer Student to work in the Bingham Farms, MI office in Southeast Michigan as an Engineering Intern.
This position requires a motivated candidate that is team-oriented, organized, able to communicate effectively to all levels of individuals within an organization and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The Engineer Intern will work as part of one or more project teams and is required to report status of work and with the assistance of a mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and may be required to make an end-of-assignment presentation to other co-ops and Jacobs’ staff.
The workload is very diverse and challenging. There are several roles envisaged for the candidate.
The candidate will support colleagues with engineering design work and other aerodynamic and aeroacoustic tasks .
The candidate will help the technical staff in the design or modeling of mechanical/aero systems.
3) The candidate is expected to quickly develop the ability to organize, write, prepare, and orally deliver technical presentations, reports, to internal technical audiences.
4) The candidate is expected to quickly develop the ability for planning tasks and projects and schedules. The candidate is expected to manage his/her tasks to budget and schedule.
Junior year candidates with an expected graduation date of December 2020 or May 2021 or first year graduate students with an expected graduation date of December 2020 or May 2021, pursuing a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher
Coursework emphasis in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, compressible flows, heat transfer, combustion, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), aerospace propulsion, structures, solid mechanics (statics and dynamics), and / or vibrations .
(Primary work focus) A strong understanding of fluid mechanics and the ability to apply this knowledge for test facility design.
Excellent analytical and technical skills.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
The ability to work within a team environment and also independently.
An ‘engineering curiosity’ to understand how and why systems work.
Hands-on engineering experience working in a laboratory, test environment, or other test facilities with experimental measurement techniques.
Experience with any 3D CAD software such as Inventor, Solid Works, or 3D AutoCAD.
Experience with any commercial CFD tools such as STARCCM+ or Fluent.
