Golder Associates’ continued growth has resulted in the need for a Junior Project Mining Engineer to join our community of high performing engineers, scientists, and business professionals. This opportunity will be based in our Calgary, Alberta office. Our clients in the global mining industry expect the best from us and you will help us deliver it by providing high‑calibre technical solutions for the development of mineral projects in a safe, cost-effective, and responsible manner.

An overview of your role will include:
Demonstrating a “Safety First” focus;
Conducting a full range of mine engineering functions;
Performing strategic modeling, design and engineering analyses duties, including interactive mine design and sequencing utilizing various mine modeling software packages. This will require working on projects with some supervision;
Applying Golder’s Project Management standards to manage all aspects of projects;
Working collaboratively with engineers and technical staff to develop the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments;
Maintaining a balance of at least 85% chargeable hours;
Learning to identify, develop, and follow through on new business opportunities;
Continually applying a high standard of ethical behaviour to promote and support Golder’s Core Values and Culture.

Your background will include:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering;
Registration, or the ability to register, as a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training (EIT) in Canada;
A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience with an emphasis on open pit mine planning, design and scheduling. Oil sands, mine operations, and underground mining experience are assets.
Previous experience as a consulting engineer or with a technical services role within a mining company;
Previous experience working on technical mining projects and contributing to technical reports;
Appropriate experience in utilizing mine planning, design and scheduling software packages such as MineScape, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswick, Datamine, Gemcom, Mine 2-4D, and EPS;
Fluency in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) considered an asset;
Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation skills;
The ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations.
