Maintain the departments aerodynamic patent intelligence. Conduct research of new and improved dimple pattern designs for golf balls through experimentation and development of physics based models and numerical simulations.
With the use of computer aided design and analysis tools (SolidWorks), create new dimple patterns designs and associated tooling. Within defined projects, conduct experiments and analysis on the aerodynamic performance of new and improved dimple pattern designs. Prepare drawings and reports documenting results and observations.
Conduct in-depth analysis of all IP (issuing weekly) related to both the geometric design and the aerodynamic performance of golf balls.
Under direction, develop physics based models and numerical simulations, using MATLAB or similar tools, to predict the aerodynamic behavior of new and improved dimple patterns. This will include the development of mathematical and empirical models to accurately predict golf ball flight, landing, and roll.
Coordinate aerodynamic analyses required in support of the Legal Departments Product Clearance and litigation.
Become familiar with Acushnet use of invention records for the purpose of retaining and broadening our Freedom to Operate within golf ball design and manufacturing.
Utilize CLUBHOUSE to record all project activity and become familiar with analysis and visualization tools (such as Minitab, Tableau, or R) for exploring relationships between various design elements affecting golf ball performance.
