Ideally located near Lakes Hartwell and Keowee near Clemson University, Greenfield Industries, with facilities in Seneca, South Carolina and Toronto, Canada, manufactures and sells drills, taps, end mills, and other cutting tools made of high-speed steel and carbide These products are sold under the brand names Cleveland, Chicago-Latrobe, Cle-Line, Bassett, Greenfield Threading.
We seek a talented Mechanical Engineer for our plant operations team. We are a privately held company, part the Top-Eastern Group (TDC), the world's largest manufacturer of twist drills.
At Greenfield Industries, engineers work as members of teams and on standalone projects to solve important problems and make improvements through clever use of analysis, modeling, design, and synthesis. Engineers perform duties in planning and designing tools, machines, and other electrically and mechanically functioning equipment. This includes PLCs, CNC controllers, and mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, systems. Another key function is to oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. This position reports to the Manager of Engineering and Maintenance.
Sample Job Duties and Tasks:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
Develop and implement design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.
Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.
Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition.
Study industrial processes to determine where and how application of equipment can be made.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
or Associates Degree and 5+ years of experience
Strong people and communication skills in order to provide and solicit critical information
Excellent computer skills in Excel and experience in use of an ERP system (such as SAP, AX, JD Edwards, SAP or others) is preferred.
Can meet core shift production hours and occasional flex for projects that require some work on off shifts
Communicates professionally in verbal, written and through presentations to various levels of the organization.
Is highly committed to safe practices and taking active steps to ensure a safe work environment.
Able to work without restriction in the US.

Physical Requirements and Capabilities: Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them. Focus on one source of sound and ignore others. React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet. Walk throughout the production, assembly, warehouse and office areas. Bend, reach, stoop, lift up to 45 pounds. Work under the pressure of deadlines and be capable of managing multiple tasks and projects. Can wear non-slip close toed shoes, safety glasses and other safety protection as needed to perform projects.
