We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Champaign, IL office. Responsibilities include planning, design and development of bid packages for mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection).
Performs site survey and data collection to verify and document existing conditions.
Performs low level design tasks for mechanical phase of MEP and Civil/Environmental projects.
Applies engineering principals to develop heating, ventilating and air conditioning models and loads.
Designs plumbing piping systems including domestic water, sanitary and vent.
Designs heating and piping systems for natural gas, compressed air, hydronic hot water, chilled water, steam and condensate.
Performs calculations, selects equipment, coordinates drawings and develops bid documents.
Verifies conditions of existing equipment in the field and prepares technical reports as needed.
Coordinates with other team members across offices and disciplines to complete projects.
Performs drafting activities including floor plans, sections, details and schedules.
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (ME emphasis) and EIT are required; Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license is desired.
5+ years of experience with building system design with an emphasis on HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
Proficient with the following design and modeling tools; Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Trane Trace, and MS Office.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write reports and interact with clients, vendors and partners.
Valid driver’s license is required.
