PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Develops and tests tooling, process, and machine/mechanism products for Met-Max Innovations. Conforms to ISO quality systems to set-up, validate, and test complex forming processes on National Machinery equipment. Produces parts in a prototype production setting with the goal of continuously improving the processes, ultimately providing the customer with a production-worthy process. Works with and trains customers on the proper methods of successfully setting up and running these processes along with the necessary machine adjustments and maintenance required for success on-site as well as in the customers’ facilities. Works extra hours and/or switches shifts as necessary with short notice to meet customer demands. Other duties as may be assigned.
Extensive knowledge of NMLLC machinery systems and mechanisms, including mechanical, lubrication, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Ability to understand and work from complex drawings and written specifications
Thorough knowledge of assembly practices, hand tools, fits, finishes, and use of precision measuring instruments
Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to contribute innovative and practical solutions
Must have the ability to stay with and fine-tune a project over a long period of time.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to participate in meetings and work effectively with management and customers
Excellent time-management skills. Must be a self-starter, flexible, able to multi-task, and work to schedule
Desire and ability to gain in-depth knowledge of National Machinery products and associated metal forming processes
Capable of representing National Machinery in a professional manner, accepting responsibility for problems, and finding appropriate solutions
Must be safety-conscience, and quality-oriented
Must have valid US drivers license, ability to be insured by the company, and ability to obtain passport
Signed non-disclosure/non-competition/non-solicitation agreement
Post-high school training
Use of personal computer, knowledge of Excel software
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Safety shoes and safety glasses required
Working with very small, extremely precise components that demand a high degree of eye-hand coordination and dexterity and the use of head gear with a magnifying visor
Work can be strenuous, and may include walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, pulling (such as on torque wrenches), and assembling large components as well as standing for long periods of time
Occasionally lift loads of up to 50 pounds
Requires domestic and international travel to customer facilities where knowledge of and following safety regulations must be a priority
