The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks.
Conceptualizing the design of customized mechanical equipment
Designing mechanical equipment using the latest in 3D design software
Developing shop drawings for manufacturing
Sourcing parts to identify suppliers and costs
Developing bills of materials
Estimating the cost of potential projects for quoting purposes
Attending occasional site visits to discuss projects with clients, collect measurements, or for troubleshooting equipment
Contributing to the mechanical design team with any other tasks required by the supervisor
The selected candidate will sometimes be asked to complete these tasks together with other team members, and sometimes they will be asked to act as the lead on a given project.
Candidates wishing to apply are asked to demonstrate how they satisfy the following requirements:
Holding a diploma in mechanical engineering or a degree in mechanical technologies
Having a minimum of five years of work experience in the design of custom equipment
Having extensive knowledge of and experience using Solidworks as a 3D design software
Having mechanical interest and knowledge; how things come apart, go together and work in general
Having a valid driver's licence
Being a Canadian citizen
Skills and Abilities
Strong 3D design skills using Solidworks
Experience in automating processes
Strong problem-solving skills
Determination and persistence
Strong teamwork abilities
Ability to present ideas in a confident manner
Having formal or informal experience in assembling and disassembling mechanical components will be considered a strong asset.
Bilingualism (oral and written) will be considered an asset but is not a requirement.
Salary: To be based on experience.
