About the role:
Our people are the driving force behind our successes, and our team is growing. At this time, MTI offers an exciting opportunity to join as a Process Development Engineer and lead our engineering efforts in developing the proprietary Rolling Mask Lithography (RML®) equipment and process technology to meet internal goals and customer requirements in MTI Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada.
Role requires flexibility in traveling to our Pleasanton, California USA site for training and any other support needed in the technology transfer.
Key responsibilities & duties
While the role and responsibilities will vary based on business priorities, they typically include:
Be a technical leader for the lithography technology transfer from Pleasanton, USA to Halifax, NS.
Set the chemicals requirements for the Lithography process under Nova Scotia, Canada’s regulation (i.e. safety, suppliers, storage, use and waste)
Develop and improve the RML® lithography processes and associated hardware.
Develop robust production processes using Design of Experiments (DOEs).
Establish validation and verification criteria for new processes & products.
Create and revise documentation detailing production processes.
Rigorously verify performance using all available metrology methods and tools.
Ensure that lithography goals are met and effectively contribute to overall company goals.
Stay abreast of best practices and technologies and provide input on new processes to enhance or expand capabilities.
Interface with Optical and Materials Engineering teams regarding process capabilities, materials, and review new products.
Identify, facilitate, and prioritize opportunities for process improvements.
MSc in Chemical or Material Engineering
3+ years of photolithography development experience
Canada work authorization
Experience in chemicals use requirements under Nova Scotia, Canada’s regulation (i.e. safety, suppliers, storage, use and waste).
Experience in technology scale up from R&D to production.
Fast technical and/or scientific document generation/modification.
Self-motivated with the ability to align priorities in accordance with business goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preference would be given to those who can join immediately
Technical competencies desired
Experience in standard semiconductor lithography tools and processes (contact and projection lithography, photoresist coating, development, and removal).
Experience in emerging lithography tools and processes (near-field, phase mask, holographic or interference lithography, soft lithography, nanoimprint lithography) a big plus.
Broad experience with many photolithography resist systems and optimal application. Fundamental resist design experience a plus.
Hands-on equipment and tool operating experience.
Comfortable working in Clean room environment; experience with Clean Room hygiene protocols and ISO standards.
Comfortable working with hazardous chemicals; experience with hazmat handling protocols.
